Sunday: Ordinary 19C, Proper 14C

Faithfulness to God's call

Sentence
Watch and be ready, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. Matthew 24:42, 44

Collects
Lord God, you know that we cannot put our trust in anything that we do: help us to have faith in you alone, and mercifully defend us by your power against all adversity; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. BCP. Sexagesima

Let us pray [that we may grow in the love of God.]
Almighty and ever-living God, your Spirit made us your children, confident to call you Father. Increase your Spirit within us and bring us to our promised inheritance. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. AAPB

Kindle in our hearts, Father, the same faith that impelled Abraham to set out for his home and to live as a pilgrim in a foreign land. As we, like him, look for the city that none but you can design and build, keep us watchful for your Son's coming, that we may be found faithful stewards of all that you have entrusted to us. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. APBA
